Mr. Parkinson

This disease, he is winning
when I retreat to sleep,
I am numbed and reduced
by his creeping fatigue,
he curls me mid-day,
moving me sour to bed,
making me invisible
to those who are left:
this is my rehearsal
for a decade hence,
we are better at living
when we fear being dead.
