Cable St.

Cable Street,
October ’36,
dignity remained
for those that stood;

can we line up
to stand again,
as our grandparents
did back then?

There defending
neighbours’ lives
from the threat
of the Right,

to stop, barricade,
with voices raised,
to blunt the
racists’ bayonets.
