Only worn once – taken
off [drunk] then stored
in a fusty costume box –

lust rots in a loft space –
[hate’ll suck out breath
once held] – a white run

of off lengths sewn into
a dress – Rare promises
made in exchange for a

now-rare kiss – they will
break each said line – &
any silk will disintegrate

[as will kissed vows] – in
time’s shaded counts of
days a cock crows often

enough to confirm fates
as explained – mother &
others knew it’d end so
