Poem #2,758 | I have become a shopkeeper

Mike Bell/ November 8, 2023/ www.mikebellpoems.com

I have become a shopkeeper
by accident [less need to sell
& more to engage] – courses
I’ve followed [to date] aren’t
set out in some route march
to an end – no end is desired
[with that is your quietus] – I
look at auld married men as
they shuffle between told-to
moments [those alone seem
to bloom in freedoms – we’ll
do well to observe] – I sell all
I want to at fair prices I print
& restock at my own pace – a
singular thing is a swell life –
honour your advertised rate
