There will be disturbances
in Marseille – I hitched thru
as a twenty-two year auld –
port town – Southampton’s
French twin [both I’ve seen
from shores] – Do not loiter
in a football shirt or sing in
too loud drunken voices – I
saw men get a kicking [‘cos
of voice] – Seagulls speak a
weird kind of French – caws
accent-spent – a police rule
of law [indecent acts under
their baton whips] – I saw a
dead girl float face down in
rippled rise – tide-wet dead
