Jean’s Pigeon Tree

From a still, unpacked,
house you see,
the scruffy, leaf-free
‘Pigeon Tree’,

where fat, half-collared
birds slow-roost,
singing thick-throated,
chorused boasts:

Birds watch us
plucked pre-retirees,
also guests in our
rest home trees.
