others will list failures –
how
buildings fell –
gone
[& every
erect instances of our pasts] –
we’re eroded by those slogs –
of youth & profits –
of others’
neoteric successes as failing
cities quake to rubble
[leave
out numbering o’ dead] –
As
a man stills in a nursing bed
in Surrey his family perch at
duty to be done
[he doesn’t
look like Da’] –
They’ll weep
& snap in & out of things –
A
year ahead & he will be lost
[along with deftly flattened
landmarks] –
a fleeting time
