Poem #2,782 | No rain over a few days

No rain over a few days
[& I miss its persistence
& inconvenience] –
Pain
is also forgotten in that
same way –
It is said by
those still intact after a
life of hard knocks that
our bodies forget every
agony
[I am not of that
school of thought] –
As
dry day follows dry day
we will lose those lakes
& risen threats & forget
how rain drowns fields
& trails long enough to
claim new wetlands –
A
drought will persist as I
take to longer walks on
a soon-to-be hard path
from A to B & back
[my
boots no more sucked]
& for now rain’ll run off
